Solitaire

June 4, 2007 by · Leave a Comment

Playing solitaire and I’m up all night
Once was a time it would all be right
We all hit the skids maybe this is mine
I feel like the devil’s working overtime

I just want to feel more than used, and
I feel alone in this cageless zoo, and

Aint no consequence I never paid my dues
God likes to keep me in a checkmate mood
Once there was a time I never was alone
But times they change it keeps moving on

I just want to feel more than used, and
I feel alone in this cageless zoo, and
I just want to feel more than used

Please make us laugh and make us scream
Even when no one understands the meaning
Better than sinking in this high tide ocean
Try to get momentum from this online motion

I just want to feel more than used, and
I feel alone in this cageless zoo, and

Boys become men behind a laptop screen
Jump to new Spaces, wasn’t what it seemed
Self centered friends they don’t give a damn
Virtual reality’s the ultimate scam

I just want to feel more than used, and
I feel alone in this cageless zoo, and
I just want to feel more than used

Playing solitaire and I’m up all night
Once was a time it would all be right
We all hit the skids maybe this is mine
I feel like the devil’s working overtime

I just want to feel more than used, and
I feel alone in this cageless zoo, and
I just want to feel more than used

I started writing this on May 31st after I’d been drinking – I realized the next morning I wrote it to the tune of Scar Tissue by the Red Hot Chili Peppers… so that kind of sucks. I cleaned it up a little and it still sounds okay, so I’m leaving it.
