And A Merry Old Soul Was He?

I got another phone call from the good ol’ fellas down in Oklahoma working for Tom Cole.  I guess that even though I passed on the Leadership Award they were offering me last time, I’m still a good candidate for their Business Advisory Council.  Who-what-what!?

“Hi this message is for Mr. Blah Blah my name is Michael Lopez with Congressman Tom Cole in the National Republican Congressional Committee.  Your name came up here in Washington and we would like you to serve on our Business Advisory Counsel.  My number is 1-888-383-8065 please call me as soon as you get this message.  Thank you.”

Do you think I called him right back?  Nope, I didn’t.  And I received the message yesterday, so I am defying Mr. Lopez with prejudice.

I don’t really know what that means, but I’ve heard some court cases be whatevered “with prejudice” or without.  I’m not looking for someone to enlighten me, I’m just saying.

If they really want me to reply to them, perhaps they could personalize their message a little bit by even stating the kind of business I am in.  Though, as I assume this is a boiler plate phone call – I doubt they have those resources available to them.

I did some quick looking, and it appears that the Business Advisory Council is real-ish.  I would challenge them to make a better website, however – in fact they could hire me to do it for them.  I could make it look less Government-y.  The membership page has the same gavel they were blabbing about last time they wanted my money for that Leadership Award.  I didn’t want to buy it then, and I don’t want to buy it now.

Its nothing personal Mr. Cole, its just that I am getting fed up with Government in general and your fellow Congressmen are not assisting in the matter.  I remember when I bought the theory that our elected officials were being sent to represent us, since its impossible for everyone with opinions or ideas to show up in Washington in person.  It is becoming more obvious by the day, that people in political power are interested in shaping the nation and history to help themselves, not the ones who elected them.  Sway the nation for a political party, rather than do what’s right.  People change, as does the world – but the political struggle within our own borders that make it impossible to defend them – is just sick.
